Description
The RJ31X is a specialized telephone jack used in security and alarm systems to ensure line seizure—giving the alarm panel priority access to the phone line during emergencies. When an alarm is triggered, the RJ31X allows the system to disconnect all other phones and dial out to a monitoring station, even if a phone is off the hook. It’s typically installed between the incoming telephone line and the household phone wiring, and includes a shorting bar to maintain normal phone operation if the alarm panel is disconnected.
