Description
The 3M Scotchlok™ UB2A is a compact, gel-filled insulation displacement connector (IDC) designed for quick and reliable tap splicing of solid copper conductors in telecommunications and low-voltage control systems. Its three-port configuration allows installers to tap into an existing wire without cutting or stripping insulation, making it ideal for adding branch lines without service interruption. The UB2A features a pre-crimp design that holds the main conductor securely in place before final crimping, while a molded membrane in the tap port stabilizes the tap wire during installation.
Features
- Tap Splice Design: Enables quick, non-intrusive tapping into an existing wire without cutting or stripping insulation—ideal for adding branch lines in telecom and control systems.
- Three-Port Configuration: Accepts two main conductors and one tap wire, supporting 19–26 AWG solid copper wires with insulation up to 2.08 mm (0.082").
- Pre-Crimp Feature: Holds the main conductor securely in place before final crimping, preventing slippage during installation.
- Molded Membrane in Tap Port: Stabilizes the tap wire during crimping for a cleaner, more reliable splice.
- Gel-Filled Sealant: Factory-installed moisture-resistant gel protects against corrosion and environmental exposure.
- Tool-Free Installation: Can be crimped using standard pliers—no stripping, soldering, or special tools required.
- Color-Coded Cap: Blue cap for easy identification in the field and consistent with 3M’s Scotchlok™ color system.
- Compact Design: Fits easily into tight spaces and ready-access closures, reducing installation time and cable disruption.
